The ClampStar® solution is a practical, inexpensive mitigation and public safety strategy to help utilities eliminate wildfires and unplanned outages caused by wire-down incidents. ClampStar® is an engineered electrical and mechanical shunt that, along with proactive maintenance practices improves safety and prevents unplanned outages. Lineman safety due to decreased times in live-line environments is also improved. ClampStar®, a PERMANENT life extension solution for virtually all overhead conductors, significantly reduces whole-span wire replacement cost when installed, with NO power interruption, over a failed splice or on a damaged portion of conductor on virtually all types of overhead conductors.

For the transmission segment, having flexible legs and easily installed with sticks or Bare-Hand in sizes up to the largest common conductors
Simply by flexing the legs, the same device is easily installed on Dead-Ends & Suspension Clamps and an integral tether provides mechanical reinforcement for those applications.
ClampStar® is a quick, easily installed, PERMANENT answer to pressing difficulties in dealing with failing automatic splices. The featured splice connector corrector, the CSR-0325 ClampStar® can be installed in less than 5 minutes with no power interruption or special tools required. The installed cost of the ClampStar® is a fraction of the cost of replacing failing automatic splices.

Corona Shields | |
CSC-0883-230 | Corona shields are generally required for applications above 138 kv. The appropriate shielding is obtained by combining the ClampStar unit number with the highest anticipated system voltage. Example: CSC-1108-230 designates shielding for corona free performance of CRU/CSF/CSR-1108 units installed on a 230 kv system.
**Same shield is used for 230 and 345 KV applications |
CSC-0883-345 ** | |
CSC-1108-345 ** | |
CSC-XXXX-500 |
For all aluminum stranded conductors, eg., ACSR, AAC, AAAC, ACAR, ACSS & fiber composite core.

* CSS units can be used for suspension clamp and deadend applications. They may be ordered with tether and related hardware depending on application, which affects the weight of the overall unit.
*** LIGHT version for all AAC conductors as well as low tension/short span applications
**** Last three digits in part number designate the inside frame clearance in inches. Standard clearance lengths are shown and special lengths are available. For non-standard lengths, insert the desired clearance length as 3 digits following the part number expressed as inches; I.e., 048 = 48 inches, 068 = 68 inches, and 108 = 108 inches. Example: CSR-1108-048.
***** Overall lengths and weights are for units with standard inside frame clearance. To determine the overall length of units with special frame clearance, adjust the standard overall length shown by the difference in standard and special inside frame clearances.
♦ OHSW & OPGW units CANNOT be used on current-carrying conductors.
NOTE 1: For use on copper conductors, add “–P” to the Part Number to obtain the unit with plated keepers. Example: CSR-0325-015-P.
NOTE 2: Although larger ClampStar units will fit smaller conductor diameters, it is more cost-effective to use the smallest ClampStar possible for each specific application. For the most accurate ClampStar selection, use the Max. Conductor Diameter instead of ACSR range to determine the correct ClampStar for your particular application. As always, please feel free to consult the factory for additional information.
NOTE 3: Safe-T-Link SST tether assemblies are available for applications requiring additional mechanical support – contact the factory for additional information.
NOTE 4: To order ClampStar units with stainless steel hardware add “–SS” to the Part Number. Example: CSR-0325-015-SS
Note: Classic Connectors’ policy of continuous product improvement may result in changes in design or specifications without notice.
